Physical environment, nutrient budget, and ecology of Lake Moana-nui, Tokoroa

This report is based on fortnightly monitoring data collected over a 14 month period from November 2000 to January 2002 and a survey of the lake bathymetry and vegetation distribution. The project also included a detailed investigation into the associations between macroinvertebrates and the native and exotic plants in the lake, and experiments evaluating the effects of the large populations of the water flea Simocephalus vetulus that the lake maintains on algal concentrations and therefore water clarity. The aim of this report is to present and discuss the results of the monitoring, surveys, and experiments in order to make recommendations for the future management and health of Lake Moana-nui

I am interested in creating work that explores and challenges ideas relating to modern civilization and contemporary culture. I plan on creating both three-dimensional and two-dimensional works in glass and mixed media that use elements of the domestic interior as a reference for our cultural identity. I will continue to develop my visual language through material where traditional decorative techniques in glass and other media can be re-appropriated for metaphoric and conceptual purposes. Through the use of well-developed visual references from the history of decorative media, I will create works that present potentially unsavory subject matter in an attractive and palatable manner. The culmination of my research will be the creation of beautiful and seductive objects, images, and installations that create instances of irony and satire

Second Isogeny Descents and the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer Conjectural Formula

Let h be a p-isogeny of elliptic curves. We describe how to perform h-descents on the nontrivial elements in the Shafarevich-Tate group which are killed by the dual isogeny h'. This makes computation of p-Selmer groups of elliptic curves admitting a p-isogeny over Q feasible for p = 5,7 in cases where an isogeny descent is insufficient and a full p-descent would be infeasible. As an application we complete the verification of the full Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjectural formula for all elliptic curves over Q of rank zero or one and conductor less than 5000.Comment: version 2: Definition 2.1 has been corrected; other minor edits and correction

CHANGES IN HIP FORCE VECTOR AFTER ATHLETIC GROIN PAIN REHABILITATION DURING A RUNNING CUT

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to examine changes in hip force vectors after successful athletic groin pain rehabilitation. Forty athletes with athletic groin pain that underwent a rehabilitation intervention participated in this study. Hip force magnitude, direction and their combination were examined using a continuous waveform analysis. Hip posterior and medial force at the start and end of the movement decreased following rehabilitation, while superior forces increased (over most of the movement cycle). Findings suggest that athletes with groin pain benefit from a rehabilitation intervention that decreases posterior and medial hip joint forces
